We are looking for a highly motivated Accounting Intern to join our Finance Team.
Reporting into the Accounting Manager, the Intern will get the opportunity to learn and develop their skills in all facets of the Finance function.
You will:
- Support the accounts payable function at the Foundation. This means you will work with internal stakeholders to process their payments and with external vendors to ensure they are paid on time; invoices are accurately coded and possess the appropriate approvals; ensure all relevant support is stored digitally.
- Assist with purchase card reviews and processing for payment
- Maintain uptodate vendor information within our accounting system. This includes adding new vendors when necessary and ensuring the correct forms have been completed.
- Prepare and post journal entries along with other month end closing processes
- Monitor bank account balances and notify escalate to senior team members if a transfer is necessary
- Support the external audit by retrieving documents, compiling reports and answering questions posed by the auditors
- Support internal stakeholders with inquiries or report requests
- Assist in adhoc requests and projects as directed by management
Qualifications:
- Enrolled or completion of a University degree in accounting, finance or business
- Experience in an office environment, particularly in an accounting/finance function
- Understanding of basic accounting principles
- Intermediate level ability in Microsoft Excel (Lookup formulas, Pivot Tables)
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to handle competing tasks from various stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in order to respond to inquiries
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative team
- Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fastpaced environment
