Danish Pastry House is seeking a Full-time Head Baker

  • Co-Production Manager for their bakery/factory on the Mississauga/Oakville border.
Responsible for Manage with direct supervision of all bakers and pastry chefs.

Getting there:
Public transportation (1 km away) or access to a reliable vehicle is recommended.


Responsibilities:

Management of production team including scheduling and assigning tasks to ensure production lines are adequately staffed

Create a continuous improvement environment by improving products, service, and processes with the objective to reduce waste, while striving for efficiency and profitability

Scheduling production, organizing work flow to meet specifications and deadlines

Recipe development and improvement

Responsible for day start-up, including calculating orders, checking daily production schedule, equipment condition and temperature settings

Implementing training for new staff in product knowledge, procedures and standards

Preparation of a variety of desserts, pastries, European artisanal breads, other baked goods for 17 satellite locations

Inventory management and ordering

Monitoring food and labour costs

Work alongside staff, lead by example. Provide leadership, training and coaching with bakers to create culture of inclusion and engagement

Demonstrate supports of General Bakery Safety, Food Safety, and Good manufacturing

Follow company health and safety policies and processes to ensure a safe work environment

Responsible for recruiting and staffing of all bakers and pastry chefs


Skills and Experience
- minimum 5 years professional baking

  • 3 years food handling
  • 3 years scratch baking
  • Energetic with a positive work ethic
  • Able to multitask
  • Reliable and able to work independently with confidence
  • Must be able to learn quickly and work in a fastpaced environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills
  • Must be accountable for the quality and standard of products produced
  • First Aid, WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety familiarity
  • Food handling certification
  • Asset to have 3 years team management experience
  • Must have 3 years baking experience

Pay:
$21.00-$24.00 per hour
