DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Unit Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of clinic space allocation, coordination of nursing staffing and resources on all shifts, facilitating patient flow, working closely with the inter-disciplinary team including liaising with DRCC systemic therapy and radiation therapy departments, providing a consistent contact for other LH departments, and acting as a steward for the person-centred approach within the Ambulatory Clinics.


In collaboration with DRCC information technology/Informatics colleagues, the Unit Coordinator will also assist in supporting any required data collection and accountability related to Ontario Health - Cancer Care Ontario reporting.


QUALIFICATION:
" Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing).
" Current BCLS.
" B.Sc.
N. preferred.
" Minimum three years recent experience in ambulatory oncology required.
" Completion of de Souza Institute Foundations in Oncology Nursing Practice course or equivalent required.
" Recent & related supervisory experience is an asset.
" Proven understanding of staff scheduling (
ONA and CUPE), staff/patient assignments and patient flow.
" Demonstrated leadership, teaching and mentorship skills.
" Effective organizational; planning; prioritization and time management skills.
" Demonstrated ability to deal with competing demands as well as maintain composure and professionalism in stressful situations.
" Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
" Effective communication and interpersonal skills that enables you to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and physicians, and the community.
" Proven ability to work well independently.
" Ability to advocate for quality-based patient outcomes within an interdisciplinary team environment.

" Must have proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard.
