Reporting to the Foreman, the Petroleum Coke Handler assumes responsibility for all general coke handler duties required on industrial scope projects.

They will ensure work tasks are performed safely in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and company policies and that work is performed with a high level of quality and timeliness.

This position is located in the Lloydminster, SK area on a client site.

Working Conditions- 5-5 shift; 12 hour days & nights- Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions- Working at heights over 100'- Working in and around noise and dust- Steel-toed safety boots will be required- Overtime as required

Responsibilities:

Load coke on rail cars and do all coke car movement.
Rail yard car movement and sorting of different types of coke cars to accommodate shipping of coke to the different customers.
Wash down conveyor room after coke loading has been completed for the day.
Inspect at the end of day, grease and fuel equipment (Loaders and Crusher).
Load truck with coke to be hauled to the hill when no rail cars available.
Assist Client Maintenance personal on the coke structure and conveyor system when required.
Assist with and participate in the servicing and making of minor small repairs to equipment.
Complete and maintain all pertinent documents.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma 2 years' coking experience(preferred)
Willing to join the Local 870 union
H2S Alive
Fall Protection
CSTS0.9
Valid driver's license; Class 3 with air endorsement an asset
Drug and Alcohol testing
General construction safety knowledge
Strong mechanical aptitude
Experience operating heavy equipment an asset
Experience with conveyor systems an asset
Committed dedication to safety; reflected in practice and experience
Strong focus on customer satisfaction
Strong attention to detail
Ability to take direction and follow through on instructions
Positive attitude to safety
Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude
Superior written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements- Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 lbs. with assistance- Stand or walk for long periods of time- Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects- Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects- Safety equipment will be required, fire retardant apparel, safety glasses/goggles, hard hat, hearing protection and gloves to be provided

Compensation and Benefits- Compensation is commensurate with experience, quality and production capabilities and is above industry average- Overtime is compensated per the Local 870 collective agreement
