Job Summary:


Reporting to the Associate Director of the Advising Centre, the Academic Advisor will deliver holistic, integrated advising to prospective and current students.

The duties include assessment interviews, program planning, and creating individual academic success plans.


Qualifications:


  • A Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution is required with at least two years' experience in student academic advising in a postsecondary environment.
  • Demonstrated collaborative, inclusive, relational approach to working with others
  • Demonstrated strength in written and oral communication, including attention to the audience
  • Demonstrated problemsolving skills, creativity, resourcefulness
  • Experience in the development and delivery of presentations
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, including teambuilding
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to the position
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the needs of students, including subpopulations within
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs is required; familiarity with Banner and Achieve Appointment Manager software is an asset;
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to the ethical and professional standards (FOIPPA regulations) of providing service to students
