Description

The salary for this role will be $110,000 - $120,000 per year, plus incentive.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Responsible for all activities as they relate to the management of Welding, Field Sales Support, and Mechanical Services operations. Provide a safe work environment, maintain service work order and information system to ensure effective and full utilization of the system and all related needs are met. Maintains RAMP agreements on a local basis, processes, cost/hour agreements, issues charges and communicates with customers and O.E.M.s. Oversees accounts receivable and workorders in progress function as well as equipment purchasing for the branch. Use available resources to complete investigation, analysis and reporting of significant product deficiencies.

Create, monitor and implement the scheduling plan to effectively manage workload, support business objectives and maximize productivity. Coordinate with the branch management to maintain machine life cycle service revenue programs. Complete bottom line analysis review, monitor results and productivity and adjust plans accordingly. Provide leadership necessary to support the development, maintenance and continual improvement of Division's Quality managements System. Develop and maintain effective communication and relationships with customers.

Leadership. Communicates goals and objectives; measures results; coaches individuals and teams for improvement. Supervises and trains employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Where applicable, assists in union contract interpretation, compliance with company policies, and adherence to quality control standards.

Other responsibilities. Ensures all department activities are conducted in full compliance with safety, health and environmental standards, company rules and processes. Brings awareness to safety by participating fully in all Branch and Company safety programs.


Qualifications include:


At SMS Equipment our Service Manager's
typically have a post-secondary education and
5-7 years' related industry experience. Any combination of education and experience in managing parts and inventory control is desirable.


Additional qualifications include:

  • Knowledge and ability to implement and enforce compliance with safety rules and regulations; to minimize industrial injuries and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Skill in examining and reengineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Ability to oversee work assignment and allocation of trades peoples' time to best utilize available manpower in the field or shop.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy with a variety of individuals and groups.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short and longrange goals.
  • Planning and organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and complete projects.
  • Ability to work independently and / or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of contract documents and specifications, parts distribution and parts management and customer service standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of electrical, welding and mechanical trade repairs and maintenance.
  • Ability to coordinate quality assurance programs in area of specialty.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.
  • Knowledge of budgeting cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures.
  • Management, supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of labour relations and personnel management.
