Tavistock Veterinarians Professional Corporation is looking for a Human Resources Generalist for four (4) days a week onsite for a 1-year contract (with the possibility of extension)
.

The Human Resources Generalist must perform a range of duties supporting Team Leads, the Hospital Manager, and the Partners. The duties consist of payroll, benefits, safety, policies, training, recruitment, onboarding, and other HR programs. The Human Resources Generalist will provide resolutions and consulting in the above areas to ensure profitable business operations.

Objectives of this Role

• Assist in developing and executing personnel procedures and policies, providing guidance and interpretation for business operations
• Administer benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs
• Ensure legal compliance of HR regulations, applicable employment laws, and update policies and/or procedures as required

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

• Handle administrative tasks for onboarding, new hire orientation, and exit interviews
• Maintain physical and digital files for employees and their documents, benefits, disciplinary records, and attendance records
• Take appropriate disciplinary action if employees violate rules and regulations
• Address employee grievances
• Assist with payroll processing
• Create and distribute internal communications (Ex: news, memos etc.)
• Assist with organization of employee engagement activities and events
• Manage recruitment logistics (Ex: job descriptions, postings, prescreening, interview scheduling, participation in the interview process etc.)
• Participate in the performance appraisal process
• Deliver various HR trainings to ensure compliance
• Maintain current working knowledge of compliance and regulatory concerns, industry trends, and best HR practices
• Participate in the disability management and return to work program
• Facilitate the Joint Health and Safety Program
• Handle other HR duties, as needed

Some travel between our locations will be required (mileage will be paid).

Qualifications

• Postsecondary education in Human Resources or related field
• 3 to 5 years HR Generalist experience
• Payroll experience (preferred but not necessary)
• Proficient in Excel and Word
• Knowledge of the applicable regulations including OHSA, Human Rights, Labour Relations and ESA
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Capability to interact with all levels of staff while maintaining an approachable and appropriate demeanour
• Willing to work as part of a team or independently, and have the drive to take on a variety of tasks and projects
