What You'll Be Doing


The Financial Transactions Officer, Independent Business - Business Contact Centre (IBBCC) is accountable for the verification, understanding and execution of our customer's financial transaction requests.

The Financial Transactions Officer ensures the successful delivery of a high standard of service while upholding compliance to internal controls and procedures within the functional assigned responsibilities.

How You'll Succeed

  • Payment Operations Acumen
  • Interpret and review all client financial transactions' instructions received by fax, including the processing of cheque certification, bank drafts, cash orders, wire transfer requests and transfers between accounts for completeness and accuracy, identifying omission. Make the necessary funds verification to ensure availability. If funds are not available, obtain pay or nopay decision from the concerned Relationship Manager before processing. Using Coins, process Canadian and foreign currency transfer requests received from clients, accurately and ensure that the operation on COINS is completed in accordance to all established guidelines


  • Client Focused

  • Liaise with the customer when necessary to clarify instructions or obtain additional information. Verbally confirm all incoming transfer requests with clients to ensure validity of the request against fraud. Interface with clients regarding financial transactions.


  • Detail Oriented

  • Carry out verification and validation processes on cheque clearing and wire payments within CIBC's guidelines, escalating anomalies or exceptions as required. Validate client signature and review resolution using various systems. Obtain complete information on customers' issues as determined by the Client Contact Specialist group from Siebel, and provide clients with detailed explanations and recommendations, taking into consideration unique situational factors and existing procedures and policies. Update Siebel with detailed information about the completion of the client request and the resolution of the customers' issues


  • Relationship Building

  • Liaise with traders and business partners for foreign exchange rates and bookings. Coordinate and support team members' efforts, and establish and maintain good working relationships. Interact with branches and INTRIA to facilitate requests of a transactional nature from clients.
