Position Summary

Duties

Applies appropriate, stateoftheart AI/ML methods to research problems in cardiovascular disease.
Stays abreast of novel scientific techniques and experiments with them
Lead productive working group sessions to disseminate knowledge
Mentor students and other staff.
Willingness to work on novel datasets and tackle complex clinical challenges.

Qualifications

Minimum PhD in computational biology, computer science, engineering, or statistics. Expertise in Python, C/C++ and Unix programming environments.
Handson experience using machine learning tools such as scikitlearn as well as developing custom machine learning models in PyTorch/JAX/Tensorflow in high performance python computing environments.
Prior experience in single cell computational approaches
Proven track record of published academic papers in high impact journals, conferences, etc
Keen interest in cardiovascular disease and immunology
Two strong letters of recommendation from established peers/supervisors/mentors in the field
Maximum 2page Letter of Intent highlighting expertise, projects, accomplishments, and research interests and goals
Demonstrate ability to mentor students and work collaboratively with clinicians

Training Environment

Learn to write successful grants
Direct mentorship to achieve your career goals
Ability to work across multiple different organizations and institutions (University of Toronto, Vector Institute, etc)
Ability to gain additional skills (genomic analysis, imaging, bioinformatics, clinical research)
