Position Summary

Duties

  • Applies appropriate, stateoftheart AI/ML methods to research problems in cardiovascular disease.
  • Stays abreast of novel scientific techniques and experiments with them
  • Lead productive working group sessions to disseminate knowledge
  • Mentor students and other staff.
  • Willingness to work on novel datasets and tackle complex clinical challenges.

Qualifications

  • Minimum PhD in computational biology, computer science, engineering, or statistics. Expertise in Python, C/C++ and Unix programming environments.
  • Handson experience using machine learning tools such as scikitlearn as well as developing custom machine learning models in PyTorch/JAX/Tensorflow in high performance python computing environments.
  • Prior experience in single cell computational approaches
  • Proven track record of published academic papers in high impact journals, conferences, etc
  • Keen interest in cardiovascular disease and immunology
  • Two strong letters of recommendation from established peers/supervisors/mentors in the field
  • Maximum 2page Letter of Intent highlighting expertise, projects, accomplishments, and research interests and goals
  • Demonstrate ability to mentor students and work collaboratively with clinicians

  • Ability to work across multiple different organizations and institutions (University of Toronto, Vector Institute, etc)
  • Ability to gain additional skills (genomic analysis, imaging, bioinformatics, clinical research)
