Position Overview:

To bring this vision to reality the WRHA Adult Mental Health Program provides an integrated and comprehensive range of mental health services and supports primarily for adult residents of Winnipeg across the healthcare continuum that support and promote recovery.

Through collaboration and partnership across various health, social and community sectors, the program strives to promote mental health and well-being for all, to reduce inequities and the impact of mental health problems and to work towards sustainability of mentally healthy individuals and communities.


Reporting to the Lead, Mental Health Integrated Services, the Manager, is responsible for the management and operation of assigned Mental Health Service teams.

The assigned teams may change according to service needs over time.

The Manager applies key knowledge and critical thinking skills related to population health and mental health; applies skills to assess and analyze information; plans, implements and evaluates policies, programs and practice in population mental health; works collaboratively to build community capacity to improve the mental health and well-being of the population; interacts effectively with diverse individuals, groups and communities; communicates effectively; provides leadership; provides clinical supervision and oversight for Brief Treatment and Shared Care clinicians and other staff within centralized and decentralized services; demonstrates professional responsibility and accountability; and manages the MHP Cost Centre.


Experience:


  • Five years of related work experience required in the areas of population health, health promotion, public health, community development, collaborative intra
- and inter-sectorial partnerships, research, program development, coordination, and management, evaluation or policy development.

  • Two years of experience providing successful leadership in a supervisory role using team management skills.
  • Two years of experience providing clinical supervision to Mental Health Clinicians preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage service budgets.
  • Applied knowledge of mental health promotion, illness prevention and early intervention required.
  • The incumbent will demonstrate the following experience/skills:
  • A sound understanding of population health, mental health, mental health promotion, health promotion and primary health care.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills including group facilitation; demonstrates consistent ability to express ideas effectively, work with a high degree of discretion and diplomacy and maintain high functioning relationships.
  • Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong facilitation, project management, partnership/collaboration, planning, problemsolving and organizational skills.
  • Experience and skill in assessment and synthesis of literature as applied to practice, program and policy.
  • Experience in leadership, change management and team building.
  • Superior organizational skills including the ability to plan and manage multiple projects.
  • Effective use of the principles of adult learning.
  • Use of webbased and personal computerbased software including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant healthcare discipline required.
  • Master's degree in Human Service/ Health field or related equivalency and experience preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:


  • Current registration in good standing with professional organization or current licence in field of expertise.
  • Possession of a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's licence required.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Knowledge of the mental health service system in the Winnipeg Health Region.
  • Sound knowledge of recoveryoriented evidence informed practice and how it relates to the delivery of mental health service and interventions within community and primary care settings.
