About the Opportunity:


We currently have an opportunity for a
Front Desk Supervisor to join our team in
Toronto, ON, on a
full-time, permanent basis.


Hours:37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday (schedule based around on-site responsibilities, with the occasional evening and weekend shift)


Reporting to the Director, Operations, the
Front Desk Supervisor will lead a team of Client Support Assistants and contracted security staff who are responsible for reception tasks, assisting clients and staff in navigating internal and external programs and services, as well as facilitating appropriate access to resources within Casey House and connecting clients with crisis intervention strategies and additional supports when necessary.

Collectively, the Front Desk team is responsible for providing low-barrier access to clients by creating a welcoming and safe atmosphere in the lobby and vestibule of the Hospital.

More specifically, your responsibilities in this role will entail, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring efficient, safe and effective operations of the front desk team.
  • Partnering with internal stakeholders to assess operational requirements.
  • Managing scheduling, staffing, and entitlement requests.
  • Producing and maintaining written training and support materials for the team.
  • Engaging in deescalation with clients and community members in crisis on Casey House property when needed.
  • Identifying and addressing opportunities to improve systems in the front desk area, including staff performance through guiding change, promoting performance enhancement, and management activities, including leading quality initiatives and providing feedback.
  • Liaise with the clinical leadership team to support and promote group programs and the administrative logistics related to client care.
  • Oversee the stock and management of harm reduction supplies and the timely distribution of medical supplies which are delivered to clinical teams.
  • Support the Client Support Assistants with the effective distribution and management of comfort fund items and other client support resources.
  • Acting as a fillin for Client Support Assistants, as scheduling requires.
  • Administering service contracts as appropriate.
  • Creating, tracking, and reporting budgets.

About You:


In order to qualify for this role, you will need to demonstrate your ability to
develop and maintain effective working relationships with others, both within and outside the organization
, along with having a minimum
3 to 5 years' of related supervisory or leadership experience, ideally in a community-based unionized or healthcare organization.

The following qualifications will ensure your success in this role:

  • 3 to 5 years' experience and comfort in working with:
- _People living with HIV_
- _People who are experiencing negative impacts of substance use_
- _People who are homeless or who don't have stable housing_
- _People with mental health concerns_
- _Trans people_
- _People experiencing poverty_
- _People who have been incarcerated_
- _Racialized populations, including new immigrants._

  • Demonstrated experience in crisis intervention, systems navigation, mental health and substance use work in a community based setting.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues, harm reduction and the impacts of experiences such as colonization, violence and trauma on individuals and communities.
  • Knowledge of health and social service providers in downtown Toronto.
  • Understanding of and commitment to working from a harm reduction perspective.
  • Knowledge of issues related to diversity and cultural sensitivity.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational ski
