Housing Support Worker

Position Description:

Participating as a member of an interdisciplinary team, you will support the treatment, rehabilitation, and care for individuals within the program.

This housing program serves individuals who have experienced long term housing instability and/or long stay hospitalizations.

Hours of Work:
Part time

  • 824 hours per week on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with 58 hour shifts, including public holidays and evenings. Hours worked to be scheduled as required by program needs.

Duties for this position include:


  • Providing direct and indirect support to tenants living with substance use disorders through a harm reduction approach.
  • Helping individuals connect to community resources and supports.
  • Reinforcing individuals' life skills, spirituality, and social and community skills.
  • Planning and facilitating programs.
  • Supporting and coordinating volunteers
  • Coordinating with outside organizations to provide cultural programming.
  • Assisting with admission and orientation of new tenants.
  • Rent collection, pest management, and other landlord responsibilities.
  • Supporting individuals to achieve their goals while encouraging independence and recovery.
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • A warm, sensitive and caring approach, the ability to work independently, be flexible, organized, responsible, and take initiative.
  • Must have strong problemsolving skills, be able to maintain good interpersonal relationships and have a genuine interest in supporting people living with mental illness.
  • A knowledge of local community resources, including local indigenous resources and community
  • Awareness of Indigenous culture and history and in particular, the impacts of residential schools and intergenerational trauma.
  • Knowledge of landlordtenant relations is beneficial.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and related experience.


Compensation:
$20.43- $24.56/ hourly based on education and experience.
