Are you a creative, collaborative digital content strategist who is looking to produce meaningful work on a high-performing team? Then University of Toronto Communications (UTC) wants to hear from you


Reporting to the Director, Digital Content & Engagement, the Web Content Strategist will be responsible for daily content updates and maintenance on the University's main institutional website, , as well as any other digital products operated and maintained University of Toronto Communications' Digital Creative Services team.

They will play a key role in advising on best practices from content organization and presentation in a web and mobile environment, with an emphasis on user accessibility and search engine optimization.

The Web Content Strategist will be responsible for liaising with content creators, coordinators and stakeholders across the University and writing and editing content for our digital products as required.

This role will also be required to produce web analytics reports in support of our communications and marketing initiatives.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Developing digital media plans that support marketing/communications strategy.
  • Implementing digital communication plans across a broad range of marketing/communication channels.
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance.
  • Liaising with colleagues across the University to ensure consistent and/or integrated messaging.
  • Creating and/or editing original, published content and materials.
  • Writing and editing copy and content to advance communications objectives.
  • Analyzing and recommending options for the development of visual expression/layout of digital assets.
  • Verifying that all digital communication collateral adheres to brand identity and University style guides.
  • Ensuring the consistency of appearance amongst digital assets.
  • Providing detailed information and explanations on the use of University style guides to achieve a consistent brand identity.
  • Checking that website design and usability practices meet industry standards.
  • Liaising with website users regarding usability feedback.
  • Advising on best practices and strategies to maximize digital communication initiatives
  • Analyzing digital analytic report data.

Qualifications:


Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree (in communications, journalism, marketing or related field) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience in professional digital content writing, editing and planning.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent understanding of digital content strategy, including best practices in web and mobile user experience, information architecture and content presentation and accessibility.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of Google Analytics and strong ability to analyze content performance to make recommendations for optimization and enhancements.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects and priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated team player, ability to work well in project teams.
  • Ability to work maintain strong work relationships and collaborate with others.

Assets (Nonessential):


  • Experience working with the Drupal 9 content management system.
  • Digital content experience in a marketing, communications or journalism environment preferred.
  • Experience in content strategy and creation on large, publicfacing websites is strongly preferred.
