The Opportunity
The Production Planner will be responsible to create and maintain a finite schedule for multiple production lines.

Working with the supply planning team, this role will support and provide transparency to internal stakeholders, identify supply risk, and maintain inventory at targeted levels.

The Production Planner will be responsible for planning and preparing production schedules for fabrication, finning, paint, and final assembly.


In this role you will:


PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Create the Master Production Plan for the London Plant. Utilize the production capacity, taking into consideration the forecast, historical sales, and new business opportunities.
  • Plan, organize and schedule production orders for the plant to ensure that the required products are manufactured in time to meet the customer demands.
  • Monitor actual output versus the Master Production Plan. Identify gaps and drive solutions, including a metric on production performance to the requested production schedule.
  • Facilitate morning planning meetings and manage scheduling matters within the Materials department, as well as other departments.
  • Provide daily manpower requirements to production and HR to obtain the necessary headcount to perform desired schedules.
  • Set schedules daily for all equipment and monitor production progress.
  • If bottlenecks occur, define, communicate, agree on, and/or report counter measurements.

SUPPORTING JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Identify the need for freight expedites and provide a written request to the logistics department for execution.
  • Communicate all component shortages to Material Manager for further escalations.
  • Create and execute Purchase Orders and Purchase REQs as required.
  • Work closely with the purchasing team to ensure that inventory is correct and up to date.
  • Monitor inventory against production demands and advise inventory issues.
  • Ensures FIFO rotation is being adhered to
  • Train and correct cycle count practices performed by the team
  • Audit counts and determine items that require recounts.
  • Proactively flags inventory discrepancies and follows up with an investigation to determine the root cause analysis of the Inventory Variance
  • Generate inventory stock reports, discrepancies, and other statistical data.


In addition to the job duties as listed above, GD Americas may require you to perform the duties of other people or require you to perform additional duties from time to time.

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Certification in APICS (Association for Supply Chain Management) and CPIM (Certified in Planning and Inventory Management) an asset.
