DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Student Recruitment, the Student Recruitment Marketing Specialist(s) duties will include developing, coordinating and implementing campus marketing and recruitment initiatives to attract traditional and non-traditional prospective students to Durham College.

The incumbent will represent Durham College in a range of internal and outreach activities (in-person and virtual high school presentations, community events, career fairs, community agencies, etc.) to connect with prospective students, educators, parents and other influencers to raise awareness of Durham College's program offerings and pathways.

The incumbent's primary goal is to implement marketing and recruitment strategies to ensure that Durham College meets its' enrolment targets by generating a strong applicant pool of qualified students.

Student Recruitment and Marketing:


  • Provide program and service specific information to a diverse audience including prospective students, high school guidance counsellors and teachers, adult learners, and referrals from community agencies.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate marketing and recruitment programs, strategies and initiatives to promote Durham College as the college of choice for prospective students to meet strategic enrolment objectives.
  • Coordinate systemwide recruiting events such as Open House, Program Information Nights,and College Information Program (CIP), including making all travel arrangements within Ontario for rental vehicles, insurance, and accommodations.
  • Connect with target audiences through inperson high school visits and via virtual platforms, including information webinars, and social media (i.e. Instagram Live info sessions, virtual meeting platforms).
  • Develop digital and social media marketing strategies to reach target markets and work with colleagues to create and implement an annual plan to support enrolment goals.
  • Analyze the requirements of a diverse range of prospective students, and develop and conduct presentations to meet their needs and promote Durham College programs both on and off campus.
  • Research and establish connections to key partners and influencers in high schools (guidance personnel, teachers, principals, boards of education) and agencies (employment counsellors) to understand diverse markets, current trends and maintain Durham Colleges' positive community partnerships. Assist with the identification of opportunities for further recruitment outreach.
  • Influence and provide input on the development of promotional materials, messaging and information (i.e. viewbooks, calendar, newsletters, social media, targeted ecommunication pieces) for high schools and agencies.
  • Organize and oversee tours, high school visits, and open houses, for prospective students, applicants, parent and guidance counselors, guidance counselor workshops and other student recruitment initiatives in consultation with the student recruitment team and college stakeholders.
  • Contributes to and provides updates for web content as it relates to the student recruitment function.
  • Will be lifting up to 40 lb boxes when on
- or off-campus events take place.

  • Represent the college or region/province on various committees/functions to establish working relationships (i.e. Ontario School Counselors Association).
