Position Summary

  • The Member Services team is looking for a student legal research assistant to perform data analysis and research related to the membership services in the legal profession, and various administrative and clerical tasks to support our offices. Reporting to the Manager, Membership Services. The incumbent will undertake a variety of activities in the office ranging from researching member profiles to basic database cleanup tasks, and inbox monitoring. The incumbent must be reliable and familiar with office equipment and procedures. This is a contract summer student position.

  • 66 Slater Street, Suite 1200 Ottawa, ON(Hybrid)

Languages

  • Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)

Compensation
- $ 19.24/hour


Responsibilities

  • The incumbent will perform the following duties:
  • Collection, entry, verification, management, analysis and reporting of data related to member profiles
  • Follows consistent research methodologies and collects data in various legal sectors related to membership services
  • Membership
  • Governance
  • Advocacy
  • Communications
  • Convert findings into plain language summaries:
  • Compiles reports, finding and policy briefs
  • Share outcomes with Directors and members of leadership
  • Participates in remote (virtual) meetings as required
  • Perform other office duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to research and analyze data
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Proven ability to uphold the integrity of research and data collected
  • Strong ability to maintain confidentiality within Membership Services
  • Excellent customer service skills with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a teamoriented environment
  • Ability to take direction, work independently, plan, organize and prioritize workloads
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook

Education

  • Completion of secondary school or equivalent
  • Currently enrolled in an existing postsecondary institution in a related field
  • New graduate from a legal curriculum is an asset
