Trans Mountain operates Canada's only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast.

We deliver approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and 111 kilometres of pipeline in Washington state.

As a
Field Operations, Summer Student (Sumas), you'll have an opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of Operations experts.

This student will provide assistance to the district field staff and the Operations' administration.


This position is based at the Sumas Station (Abbotsford) and will report to the Supervisor, Operations.

Duration:
May 1, 2023 to August 31, 2023


Key Responsibilities:


  • Assists with administrative duties including shipping/receiving and creating/maintaining documentation;
  • General maintenance within the district, including pressure washing, painting, site cleanup, and overall support;
  • Work with and/or assign basic tasks to grounds maintenance contractors and facility janitorial contractors;
  • Address backlog of housekeeping issues at the district facilities;
  • Facilitate the inventory and organization of Sumas district materials and supplies;
  • Aid the facility operations and maintenance site contact for equipment/parts deliveries at Sumas station;
  • Provide data entry for the maintenance tracking system and budget forecasting system (Access Database);
  • Ensure a clean workplace include sanitizing common areas, emptying garbage, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness;
  • Participate in Emergency Response training and activities; and
  • Provide back up support and assistance to the District Operations Assistant and the regional Budget Coordinator and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Professional Experience:


  • Interest in a skilled trade considered an asset;
  • H2S Awareness and First Aid an asset but not a requirement;
  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment (e.g., lawn mower, weedwhacker, pressure washer);
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook/Word/Excel/Share Point/WebEx);
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks as assigned;
  • Maintains a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public;
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude;
  • Selfmotivated, capable of performing tasks with mínimal supervision;
  • Attention to detail is critical;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines; and
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Other Requirements and Information:


  • Must be enrolled in an accredited postsecondary institution and return to full time studies in the Fall;
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License reliable transportation to and from work; and
  • Travel is required for this role (5%)
