What you'll do:


The Assistant Gas Bar Manager is responsible for assisting the Gas Bar Manager in the overall operation of their gas bar location.

This includes scheduling, appraisals, budgeting and attaining financial results. Other responsibilities include managing the image, standards, implementation and adherence to company programs, policies and procedures. Also supports the manager with human resources and payroll related activities.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Assists the store manager with oversight of the daily store management ensuring operations and management in accordance with Mid Island Coop policies, procedures and programs, including providing supervision and direction to store employees.
  • Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through the proper handling of questions, comments and complaints.
  • Performs and follows all aspects of cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the ordering of all merchandise and supplies; oversees receiving, including reviewing/verifying and authorizing appropriate invoices, returns transfers, claims and proper storage of products.
  • Develops and maintains schedules, including inputting and editing as required with Team Leader approval.
  • Participates in the development of work plans and yearly budgets.
  • Participates in interviews as required and may conduct reference checks.
  • Reports any policy or procedure issues to the Team Leader.
  • May organize and conduct inventory.
  • Promotes the prevention of robbery and violence in the workplace.
  • Assists with training/orienting new Customer Service Representatives.
  • Performs and follows all aspects of cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Performs all aspects of opening and closing duties.
  • Sells memberships.
  • Performs all duties while following established Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.; ensures OHS polices and procedures are adhered to.
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:


  • Grade 12 education or acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Minimum two years of gas bar and supervisory experience preferred
  • Basic receiving ordering and merchandising skills
  • Strong math skills and basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Ability to physically lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
  • May require Propane Certification and/or FoodSafe
