As a dedicated health, safety & environmental coordinator and with your proactive approach to establishing and maintaining safe working relationships, you play a key role in the promotion of the Oxford Builders Core ValuesMajor Responsibilities
- Be responsible for New Hire Orientations job site inspections and accident/incident investigations and reports
- Liaison with legislated authorities when required
- Liaison with General Contractors Site Personal (Site Superintendents & or Safety Persons)
- Monitor employees on site to ensure compliance to safety procedures and escalate issues to resolution
- Proactively identify and prevent hazardous situations and take necessary measures to correct them
- Organize and conduct training programs including but not limited to: WHMIS, Fall Protection, Personal Protective Equipment, CPR/First Aid
- Create, maintain, and educate all site staff on maintaining a safety first culture
- Complete any Site-Specific Documents for General Contractors
- Pre-Start Safety Document Submission
- Organize and participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee Inspections & Meeting (help facilitate)
Other Responsibilities
- Attend client meetings to update the client on safety
- Review and file safety paperwork
- Act as a first aid attendant
- Be a resource to the various General Contractors / Customers as well as to the visitors.
- Complete Safe Work Procedures / SWP for installations, dismantles, etc. for cranes, hoists, scaffolding, etc.
- Work with Oxford Builders Claims Management Team on Modified Work Programs for injured Workers
- Develop and complete Safety Talks with Crews
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- You have a minimum of 35 years of safety construction experience (Institutional, Commercial, Residential, or Civil Projects)
- Ability to efficiently use a computer and learn operating systems such as Microsoft and EHS Insight.
- You have the ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations
- You are working towards or are already certified under the Occupational Health & Safety Act/Regulations with experience working on a construction sites.
- Knowledge of Tower cranes, Man and Material Hoists, General Construction Equipment
- Must have a Driver's License and clean driving record
Education:
- Construction Safety Officer (CSO) Designation
- Occupational First Aid Certificate
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certificate or in the progress of becoming
- Construction Safety Coordinator Gold Seal certified and/or CRSP designation would be considered an asset
- Experience with the Certificate of Recognition (COR) Program
- Fall Protection
- High Angle Rescue Training
Effort
- Work requires heavy physical exertion, effort and strain. Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting between 10 to 25 kilograms/ pounds.
- Be able to work at heights
Working Conditions
- Exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable environmental conditions. Some health and safety risks. May require safety equipment and precautions.
- May be required to work after hours to provide an assistance to crews on projects
- Mobile within Fraser Valley and GVRD

$59,488.00-$64,086.00 per year
