Wildlife Biologist, Caribou Recovery

$73, $84,134.34 annually $36.53 bi-weekly isolation allowance for Smithers


The Provincial Caribou Recovery Program (CRP) is a coordinated program in the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship (WLRS).


Qualifications for this role include:


  • Master's degree or higher in biological sciences or a related field and two (2) years of related experience, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or related field and three (3) years of related experience, OR
  • Registered (or immediately eligible) as a Registered Professional Biologist (RP Bio) in B.C. with the College of Applied Biology within 6 months of employment.
  • Minimum three (3) years of big game wildlife management experience (or an acceptable combination of education and experience), including fieldbased biological sampling, analysis, reporting and providing advice within a regulatory regime.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Current membership as a Registered Professional Biologist.
  • Experience in caribou ecology and management.
  • Experience with caribou and/or other big game capture or population surveys.
  • Experience leading staff in project or field settings.
  • Experience in GIS based spatial analysis, statistical analysis, and database management.
