Civil Construction Superintendent

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Lead, train and manage on site workforce including the recruiting, hiring and supervising of employees.
  • Be the main point of contact between Project Manager, Site Forman and Clients, while attending all relevant meetings to keep everyone informed of project progress.
  • Read and understand contract specifications and drawings.
  • Resolve day to day issues that arise with the construction while also identifying future challenges with regards to schedule, materials, construction methods etc. so that you and your support team can come up with solutions to keep projects moving forward.
  • Keep an accurate daily diary to ensure time sheets, inspections and work orders are accurate and safety standards are being met.
  • Report to daily activities, quantities, extras, changes, ect. that relate to project schedule and payments to Project Manager.
  • Largely involved with the monthly preparation of progress payments and schedule updates.
  • Display professionalism toward our company and customers
  • Must maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment, both interior and exterior
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures: safety standards operations, maintenance, training, cleanliness standards, etc.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:


  • Must possess a valid G Drivers License
  • University Degree in Civil Engineering or College Diploma as a Civil Technologist/Technician
  • Experience in Civil Construction is considered an asset
  • In depth understanding of construction methods and practices and a growing knowledge of the safety and quality standards that pertain to our work.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be capable of all physical requirements including working at heights, lifting (up to 50lb), bending, climbing, etc.
  • Must have strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Must have strong computer skills, familiar with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Word, Excel and Outlook, and Microsoft Project would be an asset
  • Ability to take direction and communicate verbally
  • Ability to adapt to lastminute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Abide by all Company policies including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental, Human Resources policies
