WHY CALGARY AIRPORTS
Powered by heart and dedicated to excellence, we're the team that keeps Calgary connected – and you could be our newest member.
We're in the business of uplifting people, and every day, we create runways to new places and possibilities, building a better airport experience for everyone.
What's The Team Like
If you're passionate about engineering and thrive in a fast paced setting, you'll fit right in with our Infrastructure team. We're always on the go, partnering closely with internal and external stakeholders across every airport department, to deliver restoration, expansion, and upgrade projects that keep YYC safe, efficient, and future ready. Through engineering excellence and practical technical support, we turn complex plans into compliant, cost-effective results that improve passenger experience and daily operations. As a student, you'll be embedded with the team from day one, gaining real exposure to how major airport projects are scoped, staged, and executed in a live environment.
What Are Some Of The Responsibilities
- Participate in various project tasks, including completing meeting minutes, filing data, drafting sketches, conducting field reports, partaking in site visits, and assisting with schedule reviews across multiple infrastructure projects.
- Support project delivery teams with a variety of infrastructure projects including pavement and parkade restoration, stormwater management, airfield projects, terminal facilities work and building infrastructure upgrades.
- Participate in project meetings and site inspections.
- Provide general office and site support.
- Coordinate and communicate operational impacts to the airfield.
- Assist with gathering information for permit reviews, organizing technical drawings, and coordinating documentation with external consulting engineers.
- Support the preparation of project documentation including as-built drawings, technical specifications, and construction reports under direct supervision.
What Do You Need To Bring
- We welcome applications from students who meet one of the following criteria: You must be enrolled in a post‑secondary diploma or bachelor's program in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline (3rd-4th year)
- (a) be registered in a co‑op work term that aligns with the term of this role, or (b) be enrolled in a program where a work term is required to graduate. In either case, you must be able to provide documentation and confirm that you will be returning to school after the work term is completed.
- You'll need to be eligible to obtain and maintain a RAIC, don't worry – we'll help you through this For more details, check out: RAIC Program and Application Information.
- As this position is considered safety-sensitive, candidates must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as part of the hiring process.
- This role includes driving as part of its duties; therefore, candidates will be required to provide a valid Class 5 driver's license and a current driver's or equivalent to obtain an Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D is an asset.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team while demonstrating professionalism when communicating with diverse stakeholders.
What Additional Skills Are An Asset
- Bilingual in English and French.
- Exposure to construction or field environments, including participation in site visits or inspections where safety procedures were followed.
- Familiarity with engineering or project tools (e.g., CAD software, Pavement Management Systems, spreadsheets, or scheduling tools) gained through academic or work experience.
