Permanent position - 25 hours/week

  • Plus up to 12 additional hours per week as a Personal Trainer and/or Group Fitness Instructor

Job Summary:

Responsibilities:


  • 1.

Supervise Fitness Center Operations:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the fitness center, including staffing, equipment maintenance, cleanliness, and safety protocols. Develop and implement policies and procedures to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the fitness center operations. Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations. Some coverage of the Fitness Centre as the sole attendant may be required

2 Manage Personal Training Program:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of personal trainers.
  • Conduct initial new client intakes and match new clients to personal trainers.
  • Organize inservice training for staff.
  • Oversee and maintain accurate records of personal training sessions using designated software systems.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to personal trainers to ensure highquality service delivery.3.

Customer Service and Member Engagement:

  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing member inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
  • Actively engage with members to promote fitness center programs, services, and special events.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages member participation and retention

4 Budget Management:

  • Assist in the development of the fitness center budget and monitor expenses to ensure financial objectives are met.
  • Identify opportunities to generate revenue through personal training services and specialized programs.5.

Personal Training / Group Fitness Services (additional hours):

  • To promote engagement and connection with JCC members, the Fitness Center and Personal Training Supervisor role can be supplemented with up to 12 additional hours per week as a Personal Trainer and/or Group Fitness Instructor.-
  • Provide high quality personalized programs for personal training clients based on their fitness levels, goals, and any specific requirements or limitations.-
  • Teach engaging group fitness classes that cater to a wide range of fitness participant levels
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology or related field (preferred).
  • Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification from a recognized accrediting organization (e.g., BCRPA, NASM, ACE, ACSM).
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a fitness center or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of exercise physiology, anatomy, and fitness training principles.
  • Proficiency in fitness assessment techniques and exercise prescription.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
  • Certification as a Group Fitness Instructor (preferred).
