Laundry Aide

Health Services - Long Term Care

1 Regular Part Time Position


The Long-Term Care Division requires staff to provide person-centered care to our residents and families following the Butterfly Model of Care.

This will ensure high levels of emotional wellbeing and a better quality of life for those living in our homes.

Staff are to have emotional intelligence ability to deliver person-centered care in an authentic way that is meaningful to the resident and their family.

Reporting to Facility Supervisor (or designate) you will perform laundry duties in accordance with the center's policies and legislated standards, the code of conduct and the Regional Values.


What you will do

  • Maintain quota linen supply levels for all the carts that supply the resident home area/units
  • Deliver carts to each resident home area/unit
  • Follow infection control standards as per MOHLTC standard
  • Remove soiled laundry from chutes/carts and deliver to main laundry for processing
  • Sort all laundry as per policy and indicated wash formulas
  • Complete laundry log sheets each shift and submit for monthly reports
  • Wash, dry, fold and rack resident's personal clothing as per policy
  • Label all resident clothing and deliver within fortyeight hours
  • Ensure equipment well maintained, report faulty equipment immediately
  • Wash walls, air vents, light fixtures, windows, ledges within laundry area as required
  • Sweep floor daily
  • Report health and safety hazards
  • Maintain good relationships with the residents, staff, volunteers and visitors
  • Laundry Aide responsibilities as per job description.

Qualifications:


  • Grade 10 or equivalent education is required
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to communicate appropriately with residents, staff, suppliers, visitors and volunteers
  • Must be physically able to perform all delegated duties

Compensation:
As per the Collective Agreement (CUPE Local #966)


Location: 525 Main Street North, Brampton (Peel Manor LTC)


Hours of work: 7am-3pm and 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm shifts, including every other weekend and holidays
