You are an experienced and a self-driven accounting clerk with an opportunity to join our Accounting department at the law offices in Oakville.
Job Title:
Accounting Clerk**
Job Requirements:
- Self
- starter with a minimum of 4+ years working experience in a financial accounting setting with banking administration,
- Professional demeanour and strong organizational, investigative, fact finding, and problem
- Critical attention to detail,
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills,
- Must be able to work independently, to prioritize assignments and to solve issues with mínimal supervision,
- Ability to work collaboratively,
- Takes initiative and is proactive and must be able to prioritize own work.,
- Available to work extended hours when required,
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word/ Excel) are necessary. Experience with
Responsibilities:
- Prepares cheques, bank deposits and monthly bank account reconciliations, including credit card and wire payment processing.
- Adheres to Law Society of Ontario requirements for Trust accounts.
- Accounts/Receivable administration for all accounts including writeoffs for unbilled time and disbursements. A/R position is shared by other accounting clerk within the department.
- Posting of invoices as accounts receivable into GhostPractice accounting system. This involves review and reconciliation and requires excellent analytical skills.
- Client collection work as required.
- Enters all sundry disbursements (including transaction levies, tax certificates and research
- Verifies internal consistency, completeness and accuracy of accounting documents, making adjustments as required.
- Covers other accounting duties performed by other accounting personnel during vacation/ sick day absences.
- Other accounting functions and duties as assigned by the Accounting Supervisor and /or
