Archaeological Research Associates Ltd. is currently seeking Archaeological Field Technicians for the current field season to join our Northern Ontario office. This is a seasonal position with workdays and hours varying based on weather conditions.

The Role
Successful applicant(s) will travel in a company vehicle or drive their personal vehicles to their assigned work site.

Under the direction of experienced Project Archaeologists, the successful applicant(s) will assume responsibility for carrying out Stage 2-4 archaeological field work.


Responsibilities and Competencies:


  • Complete Stage 4 field work using appropriate techniques and methods according to site type and conditions
  • Ensure that all fieldwork meets the requirements of the _Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists_ and associated Technical Bulletins, as issued by the Ministry
  • Perform extensive manual labor including excavation with shovels and moving buckets filled with dirt
  • Screening for archaeological materials
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety policies and procedures
  • Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Possess a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, prolonged walking and standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions
  • Willingness to travel within Ontario, with the potential for outoftown/overnight work
  • Excellent work ethic and teamplayer attitude
  • Strong attention to detail, with proven ability to follow specific instructions

Requirements:


  • Related postsecondary diploma/degree considered an asset
months of related field work experience an asset

  • A valid driver's license (minimum Class "G" or equivalent) an asset
