    The Design Agency is looking for an experienced Corporate Accountant/Intermediate to perform operational and project accounting as part of the accounting team. The Corporate Accountant/Intermediate will be fully engaged in the accounting cycle and will possess the time-management skills necessary to meet all deadlines.

    The Corporate Accountant/Intermediate will report directly to the Director of Finance and will play a crucial role in this rapidly expanding business and will participate in the redesign and improvement of bookkeeping processes. This is a fast-paced, high-volume role; the successful candidate will be highly driven and always striving for improvement.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    For the Canadian parent company and its two global subsidiaries:

  • Vendor invoice entry and payment
  • Employee and Visa Expense Entry and payment
  • Sub-consultant invoice entry tracking and payment ("pay-when-paid")
  • Bank and Visa reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly client statements for outstanding invoices
  • Audit and verification of documents prior to input
  • Apply accounting principles, knowledge, and techniques to successfully manage the financial calendar
  • Enter project set-up in our accounting system (Deltek Ajera) in accordance with the contract including client info, billing rate table, fee, hours budget and schedule
  • Back up invoice preparation
  • Other duties as needed
  • Skills and Attributes:

  • Must be very organized and detail-oriented
  • Effective communicator both oral and written Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with integrity
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills and excellent decision-making skills
  • In-depth knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting procedures
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Qualifications:

  • College diploma in Accounting or equivalent is a benefit
  • Minimum of three years of accounting or bookkeeping experience is required
  • Experience with bank/credit card reconciliations and vendor invoice entry isrequired
  • Previous experience with project accounting is preferred
  • Experience in Ajera or similar project accounting software (highly desirable)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive and solutions-based approach to problem-solving
  • Commitment to high-quality work and exceptional client service.
