General Accountability:


Key Job Functions:


  • Determine operational objectives by studying business functions, gathering information, evaluating output requirements and formats:
  • conducts feasibility studies and assists in the preparation of business cases;
- analyzes requirements, constructs workflow charts and diagrams, studies system capabilities and writes specifications;
- schedules and conducts various meetings and workshops with business users in support of business analysis activities;
- ensures the quality of business analysis activities and subsequent formal documentation meets established TTC templates/standards and practices;
- identifies issues and plans response/mitigation strategies encountered by business users from a business analysis perspective; provides support in resolving operational problems and business issues encountered in production environments;
  • Analyze existing systems for improvement, recommend new system processes and takes part in project initiatives as assigned:
  • investigates existing systems and makes recommendations concerning changes and enhancements;
- assists in developing procedures to improve existing systems;
- conducts requirements gathering sessions with business users to create and review process flows and functional specifications;
- assists in formulating and defining systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and thorough understanding of business systems and requirements;
- consults extensively with clients during systems development life cycle; liaises with business user/department personnel to ensure requirements and dependencies are being met by systems and verifies that systems are operational and functioning successfully;
  • Present key information to the Project Manager and other IT teams for system improvement:
  • develops business analysis plans and status reports and reports progress to the Project Manager and Project Sponsor(s) as required;
- provides input in the development of business analysis/requirements time estimates;
- assists in providing recommendations and outlines benefits based on measured business value using business terms;
- identifies project business analysis/requirements phase risks;
- provides input from solution requirements perspective for procurement-type documentation;


Key Job Functions continued:

- assists in testing activities and in providing training to business users;
- defines problem areas through discussions with client and Information Technology Services management;
- establishes terms of reference for the analysis and solution to problems;
- interviews appropriate personnel during requirements, analysis and design phases of problem solution;
- responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service provider and an employer.

  • Gather information and conduct research
    Education and Experience:
  • Completion of a University degree or College Diploma in a relevant discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Experience with relevant programming languages, database design tools and data processing techniques such as SQL, Crystal Reports, PowerBI etc.
  • Experience in analyzing and documenting business processes and a demonstrated ability to bring clarity to business processes that may not be well understood by customers themselves.
