HIRING COMPETITION

CYBER SECURITY AND IT PROJECT SUPERVISOR

(Full Time Permanent 12 Month Position, Dependent on Budget Approval)

Salary Range:
$80,800 to $98,200

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of IT and Corporate Planning, the Cyber Security and IT Project

Supervisor guides the cyber security direction of Lakehead District School Board by

constructing business plans, overseeing and improving security, directing day-to-day

security operations, and keeping the organization up-to-date to meet IT security trends. The

supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing larger software

projects and for the direct supervision, work assignments, training, and evaluation of the

board's computer programmers and help desk attendant.


Duties will include:

  • Monitoring of security systems to ensure that they are operating effectively and efficiently and
to respond to emerging issues

  • Implementing new cyber security systems, controls, polices, procedures, and practices
  • Overseeing employee training and awareness initiatives on cyber security
  • Directing IT department and Board employees on security initiatives
  • Providing consistent reporting on security trends to IT Manager and Senior Team
  • Assisting in school and board network security, design, and deployment
  • Directing implementation of security policies and procedures, critical security patches,
backups, disaster recovery, and IT audit recommendations

  • Ensuring that all helpdesk tickets are dealt with in a timely and complete manner.
  • Providing guidance, support and supervision to the Computer Programmers and Help Desk
Attendant

  • Assigning and monitoring team members' tasks, identifying priorities and work schedules

Required Education & Experience

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management
Information Systems, or another related area of study

  • Relevant IT security certifications
  • Minimum of 3 years Microsoft Azure and AAD/Entra ID Admin Experience
  • Strong knowledge of network and endpoint security
  • Understanding of cloud computing security and privacy policies and procedures
  • Extensive technical experience administering and working in Ontario K12 school board
