The Canadian Psychiatric Association is looking for a Manager, Membership Services to lead our small but mighty membership team.

Position Summary
The Manager, Membership Services is accountable for the retention, growth and servicing of CPA members.

The manager is responsible for developing effective member servicing processes and standards that meet the Canadian Psychiatric Association's (CPA) long-term strategic goals, providing membership data analysis and projections, and ensuring timely membership processing, invoicing and statistical reporting.


As staff liaison, provides advice, assistance and information to the Membership Affairs Committee, Early Career Psychiatrist (ECP) Working Group and the Member-in-Training (MIT) Subcommittee.

The manager also provides secretariat support to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (CACLP). The Manager, Membership Services works collaboratively with the CPA management team and supervises the Coordinator, Membership Services.


Key Areas of Responsibility

Membership Recruitment, Retention and Recognition:

  • Oversees development and implementation of a marketing and communications strategy to achieve membership recruitment and retention goals.
  • Contributes to the development of effective messaging to raise visibility to members and eligible nonmembers of other valueadded services provided by the CPA to the profession of psychiatry.
  • Serves as a lead team member in evaluating new opportunities and business plans, and participating in development, launch and marketing of new programs and services and ensure optimal adoption levels by target audiences.
  • Develops and manages effective membership registration and renewal processes (print and online/automated), including billing of dues and ongoing fee updates.
  • Provides renewal, attrition and recruitment statistics and reports, and expert analysis and key trend reports outlining opportunities and risks affecting membership.
  • Ensures efficient and timely processing and delivery of membership renewal invoices, reminders and welcome packages as well as ongoing membershiprelated communications and incentives through print and electronic means.
  • Formulates and coordinates annual membership mailing to university program directors.
  • Regularly reviews all membership communications for accuracy and updating.
  • Promotes member recognition and affinity programs, and oversees CPA awards, as well as the Fellow and Distinguished Fellow designation processes.
  • Promotes and oversees planning and implementation of activities geared to residents and/or early career psychiatrists.

Management:

  • Prepares annual membership budget and revenue projections based on membership trends and forecast.
  • Supports the work and chairs of the Membership Affairs Committee, ECP Working Group and the MIT Subcommittee on an ongoing basis.
  • Writes quarterly membership report, which includes analysis of membership variances and developments in the association and outlines upcoming projects.
  • Manages relations with members concerned about their CPA affiliation.
  • Identifies opportunities and potential strategies for achieving membership recruitment and retention goals.
  • Provides input on content for and coordinates electronic residents' newsletter.
  • Contributes membership and resident information to the CPA's annual report and Annual General Meeting.
  • Ensures membership and residents' sections of CPA website are uptodate and provides additional information or clarification as required.
  • Oversees process for ensuring MIT and ECP representation on all CPA committees.
  • Liaises with and obtains approvals of all communications from external providers of member services.
