Detailed OverviewUnder the direction from the Manager, Health Services
Delivers and picks up items as required for nursing units, such as specimens to the Lab., medications to and from the Pharmacy, messenger to the Operating Room.
Ensures that patient needs are attended to while being transported; obtains emergency assistance as required. Assists in lifting and transferring patients to and from stretchers, wheelchairs etc., to bed or table.Cleans equipment used in transport such as pumps, IV poles, stretchers; changes linens and reports maintenance requirements for patient transport equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications Education and Experience Grade ten and one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Current basic Life Support Level C certificate.Skills and Abilities Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position, such as lifting heavy patients and standing/walking for extended periods of time.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to operate related equipment. Ability to deal with others effectively.
