The
Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) - Montreal is a non-profit organization that delivers an objective-based program for massively scalable, seed-stage, science
- and technology-based companies. The nine-month program allows founders to learn from experienced entrepreneurs and operators, increasing their likelihood of success. Founded in 2012 by Professor Ajay Agrawal of the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, the program has expanded to 12 sites in six countries. Participating start-ups have created $20 billion CAD in equity value creation.


Role and Responsibilities

Event Management

  • Acts as a coordinator between the ventures and other program stakeholders (mentors, students, partners, etc.).
  • Develops documentation to support the program.
  • Manages all event documentation.
  • Provides business development support at ecosystem events.
  • Ensures regular communication with program stakeholders.

Venture Recruitment

  • Identifies innovation centres in Quebec, Canada and United States, including universities, venture capital funds, incubators and accelerators, and technology associations, to build a strong pipeline of potential venture applicants.
  • Develops venture recruitment strategies for incoming cohorts.
  • Facilitates and documents founders' journey through the program.
  • Maintains regular contact with founders to update their documents related to the program.
  • Cordinate communications between MBA students and founders, when needed.
  • Recommends improvement and growth opportunies for the program's processes.

Operations Support

  • Supports marketing strategies (social media, public relations, etc.).
  • Fosters stakeholder engagement and document key information in databases.
  • Provides support to the operation's team in planning and delivering events.
  • Ensures the coordination of key activities with other team members.
  • Submits to their superior any file requiring special attention; performs any other task at the request of their superior or required by their duties, allowing to maintain or improve the services of their work sector.

Desired Profile

  • Master's of Business Administration or any other degree deemed relevant.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience, particularly withstartups or technologybased companies and project management.
  • Any combination of education and experiencewill be considered for the role.
  • Very good understanding of startup decision making processes, as well as their business processes and growth issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
  • Familiarity with financial modelling, market research and strategic planning.
  • Experience in working with commonly used business software.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of business models and business success factors.
  • Strong interest in innovation.
  • Ability to consistently achieve and exceed performance objectives.
  • Excellent teamoriented work ethic.
  • Ability to build trust with founders, partners and staff.
  • Highly organizationed with ability work under pressure and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with senior professionals and professors.
  • Autonomy and ability to work with mínimal supervision.
  • University degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (asset).
  • Experience working with startups, technology companies, or venture capitalists (asset).
