Allteck is seeking an
HSE Advisor to join our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality team


Role:

Coordinate and support Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) issues and initiatives as required by our operations departments throughout Canada. The position will be based in Burnaby/Vancouver with some travel required.

Operating departments include overhead distribution and transmission construction and maintenance, underground distribution construction and maintenance, high voltage cable splicing, substation construction, distribution and transmission gas installation and related construction activities.


Responsibilities:


  • Providing day to day support to various operations departments regarding HSE guidance and assistance.
  • Compile and develop site and project specific HSE documentation for awarded work scopes.
  • Assist as required in the identification and development of HSE related task specific safety documentation.
  • Lead investigative teams in incident investigations including, near miss, damage events.
  • Make necessary revisions to the safety and health process to address changes in the work environment.
  • Work with operations departments, including project managers, fleet and stores in the assistance and administration of various safety initiatives and programs.
  • Attend and provide support for HSE related meetings including client facilitated meetings, project kick off meetings, safety meetings, weekly coordination meetings, etc.
  • Assist with developing and conducting internal training courses including but not limited to mobile equipment, WHMIS, Certificate of Recognition (COR), Environmental, Confined space, Fall Protection, WCB Regulations, and various related training.
  • Perform workplace HSE inspections and audits.
  • Field level supervision of WCB claim files, disputes, and return to work programs to facilitate injured workers back to their regular duties through a graduated return to work process.
  • Promoting employee health and safety awareness, mental health, and facilitating a variety of employee safety resources.

Education, Training and Experience:

years related experience in an industrialized setting (Utility experience considered an asset)

  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST), working towards CRSP, considered an asset
  • Supplementary safety training courses for the related disciplines
  • Training skills in the delivery of comprehensive HSE training programs

Skills and Abilities:


  • Have the ability to quickly comprehend situations and the ability to problem solve
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced industry with changing priority and schedules
  • Desire to gain knowledge and continuous improvement for personal development
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills are essential
  • Knowledge of provincial safety regulations and standards (WCB, CSA, ANSI, etc.)
  • Strong computer/software skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook
  • Ability to prepare concise, consistent, and timely reports, graphs, and general communications
  • Ability to frequently travel out of town and occasionally out of country (Valid passport and clear criminal record)
  • Excellent team building, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Motivated and driven selfstarter able to quickly understand and foresee requirements and take a proactive approach to various situations
