The College of Engineering (COE) is seeking an Academic Advisor and Program Manager to join its expanding Student Services team at our
Vancouver campus
- The position combines administrative and academic support for students, with collaborative support for departments and program directors on academic processes and University initiatives. Our student population is diverse and rapidly growing.
The Academic Advisor provides support for graduate students in the areas of orientation, course registration, academic monitoring, documentation of curriculum exceptions, and graduation clearance in their assigned Certificate and Master of Science programs.
The Academic Advisor serves as a contact for the high percentage of international graduate students in the program(s) they support.
While not responsible for visa compliance, the Academic Advisor partners with the Office of Global Services (OGS) to assist students in meeting compliance requirements.

They perform tasks/projects as assigned to support the Student Services function of the Graduate School and will collaborate with department program directors on academic University processes. They will also coordinate with the Boston main campus and west coast campuses regarding student co-curricular events.
The Academic Advisor is expected to collaborate with others involved with COE Graduate Education including cooperative education coordinators, graduate program directors, faculty, and admissions personnel to meet student needs and to identify opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree required.
- At least one to two years related administrative experience.
- Experience in academic setting highly desired.
- Experience working with international student populations highly desired.
- Demonstrated advising abilities.
- Experience providing administrative support to event planning and execution.
- Occasional travel among west coast campuses and to Boston.
- Expertise in policies and processes related to graduate student academic affairs, including registration, progression, academic standing, and graduation clearance.
- Ability to establish, refine, and be accountable for meeting goals in a dynamic work environment.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills; proactive, organize, and attentive to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and teambuilding skills.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to set goals, multitask and manage time effectively.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to manage support for a high volume of students efficiently and effectively.
