With our facility gearing up for growth, we are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity to join our dynamic manufacturing team as a

  • Design Fabrication Technician (BIM / Draftsperson).

In this new role, you will be responsible for digital processes associated with our in-house manufacturing preparation, which includes 3D BIM models and 2D drawings such as shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and SOPs.

You will maintain models and drawings for various projects using both common CAD software as well as our in-house developed automation workflows, and provide feedback to help improve them.

You will also be the go-to person for drawing and model standards for manufacturing and construction preparation.

This position reports to the Director, Manufacturing Operations and works collaboratively with multiple individuals within our multi-disciplinary team.

Education & Qualifications, Required:


  • Postsecondary education in civil/structural engineering technology/drafting or a related field is preferred.
Nice to Haves, but can be certified on the job:

  • Ability to register with ASTTBC is an asset

Skills & Experience, Required:


  • Proficiency using Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, or Inventor
  • Knowledge of design standards, GD&P standards, and drafting processes
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain structural and architectural drawings.
  • Ability to speak and correspond with colleagues, clients, and contractors clearly and professionally.
Nice to Haves, but could be learned on the job:

  • Proficiency in McNeel Rhinoceros
  • Knowledge of designtoproduction processes
  • Knowledge of Autodesk ACC cloud environment
  • Knowledgeable in CNC G-Code or other manufacturing data types

Important to Mention:


  • Must provide your own CSA approved 6" safety footwear, required.
  • Proof of ability to remain and work in Canada.

The Role & Responsibilities - Draftsperson:

  • Generate accurate and detailed technical drawings for manufacturing preparation.
  • Review drawings and prepare designs for largescale building component fabrication.
  • Contribute to improving drafting efficiency and cataloguing of standard details.
  • Archive building schematics to use and reference in the future.
  • Coordinate and communicate with engineers, architects, and others on the design team.
  • Provide quality control of all design and drafting work associated with assigned projects.
  • Prepare changes on plans for asbuilt revisions, department corrections, and client revisions.
  • Prepare multiple versions of construction drawings, design development and schematics.
  • Perform field reviews and prepare field review reports.
  • Ensure that all drawings and plans comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with other members of the design team to identify and solve design problems.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve quality, and reduce waste.
  • Comply with all health and safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Comply with our administrative policies and procedures as set forth from time to time.
  • Contribute to team efforts.
  • Complete other duties as we may request which are consistent with your abilities and responsibilities.

Physical Demands:


  • Extended periods sitting at a desk.
  • Repetitive motions, using a keyboard and mouse.
  • Ability to manipulate tools, such as pencils, pens, rulers, and other drafting instruments.
  • Extended periods speaking on the phone or video calls.
  • Working on your feet for periods, including standing in one place and walking

Work Environment:


  • Working in an open office environment.
  • Working at the manufacturing facility, exposed to machine noise, dust, chemicals and/or fumes.

Safety Requirements:


  • When on the production floor or construction site, wear protective equipment, such as a hard hat, hearing protection, safety work boots, and safety glasses.
