Position Summary


UHN is seeking an Administrative Dietitian, Nutrition Services to support the department with: diet and menu development, including analysis of nutritional information to ensure menu items are consistent with nutritional guidelines/goals; quality assurance and risk management, developing and evaluating standards; staff training and development; and supporting key departmental projects.


Duties

  • Coordinate product testing, evaluating, and collating data
  • Independently assess relevant information necessary to coordinate menu revisions
  • Develops and evaluates departmental quality and safety standards
  • Plans and implements various departmental projects
  • Completes ongoing monitoring and evaluation of projects in collaboration with stakeholders i.e. managers, supervisors, other nutrition services employees.
  • Mentor and supervise dietetic students and interns
  • Perform other functions consistent with the job classification to ensure excellence in the delivery of nutritious meals to UHN patients.
  • Performs crossfunctional duties as assigned and/or required.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written with ability to effectively work with diversity; appreciates that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the situation at hand;
  • Demonstrated ability to meet multiple and competing deadlines;
  • Previous experience with menu and/or recipe development required;
  • Current with the latest innovative trends in patient food delivery and service models;
  • Previous experience in patient food service and institutional food production required;
  • Working knowledge of cold plating and hot meal assembly as well as bulk and tray retherm systems is preferred;
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree program in a 4year Dietitians of Canada accredited university Food and Nutrition program or recognized equivalent is required;
  • Successful completion of one of the four following programs is required:
  • Dietitians of Canada accredited Comprehensive Post-Graduate Dietetic Internship Program
  • Combined Masters/Internship Practicum Program
  • Integrated/Coordinated Undergraduate Program
  • Ryerson Internationally Educated Dietitians Pre-Registration Program
  • Registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario and Dietitians of Canada (DC), required;
  • Chef and/or Culinary training a strong asset
