    Mission

    The Telecommunications and Automation Co-op Student will assist our teams in a variety of projects with multiple CIMA+'s top clients delivering telecom system designs and network architecture that will meet their critical operation needs. Our telecommunications team is working with several industrial and public clients, including energy, transportation, carriers, and others on a variety of wired and wireless networking applications.     Responsibilities​​​​​​​

    • Participate in analyzing the client's needs and recommend solutions
    • Assist in the review of designs, identify shortages, and propose improvements
    • Be involved in all phases of networking engineering projects including:
      • Needs assessment and Feasibility study
      • Market research,
      • Network architecture,
      • Specifications,
      • Detailed Design,
      • Test plans,
      • Oversee implementation, provide construction technical support
      • Project closeout
    • Assist in the production of technical documentation and reports
    • Assist Sr. Engineers in overseeing project delivery.
    • Attends site surveys and client meetings
    • Assist in drafting drawing deliverables and spec documents
    • Review deliverable drafts with Sr. Engineers to take from concept to completion
    • Track deliverables
    • Review project documentation, vendor guidelines, equipment spec sheets
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor student in Electrical, Computer, Electronics or Communications Engineering
    • Have passion and interest in communication systems
    • Basic knowledge of common communications media (e.g. wired, wireless, fiber optics)
    • Basic understanding of the seven layers of OSI reference model, especially layers 1 to 4
    • Have basic knowledge of TCP/IP communication protocols.
    • Familiarity with basic LAN or WAN architectures, IT vs. OT networks, or SCADA principles is an asset
    • Experience with CAD programs such as AutoCAD or REVIT is an asset
