BFL CANADA is looking for an _Analyst - Actuarial Consulting (Health & Benefits) _
for its Vancouver Office


As a member of our Health and Group Benefits division you will provide management of the financial analysis for more complex and/or larger clients.

THE BUSINESS
Our Health and Group Benefits division provides a full range of consulting services to large, mid-size and small clients.

These services include but are not limited to providing:


  • Solutions encompassing creative plan design, vendor evaluation and management;
  • Pricing and funding strategies;
  • Compliance and governance strategies;
  • Due diligence of group health plans;
  • Benchmarking analysis;
  • Redesign of group benefits plan to realign with client's benefit philosophy;
  • Assistance for global clients with Canadian operations;
  • Act as intermediary between clients and insurers.

YOUR DAY AS AN ANALYST

  • Perform financial analysis of insurance data and costs modeling;
  • Prepare financial analysis reports and presentations communicating key results to clients;
  • Maintain strong relationships and participate in negotiations with insurers and partners;
  • Respond to inquiries from insurers and other partners;
  • Participate in calls and presentations with clients, as appropriate;
  • Help in developing strategic recommendations for clients and participate in the development of new business;
  • Take the initiative in the development of internal processes and tools;
  • Manage the quality and timeliness of client deliverables;
  • Assist in keeping the internal database and tracker uptodate;
  • Participate in the review and validation of the work done by colleagues and other team members;
  • Play a proactive role in establishing and maintaining best practices;
  • Maintain and develop internal technical knowledge;
  • Develop and promote our company as a key player in the market with excellent knowledge of the industry;
  • Perform any other related task or special project.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science or related field;
  • 2 years of experience in a consulting or group benefits insurance environment, preferred;
  • Valid group insurance license, an asset;
  • Achievement of 2 or 3 exams from the Society of Actuaries (SOA) / Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA), an asset;
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills;
  • Attention to detail and to quality;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel (including VBA);
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment;
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical problemsolving skills;
  • Selfstarter and ability to work independently, but also cooperatively in a close team environment;
  • English written and spoken
