Job SummaryThe Dr.
Pieter Cullis Laboratory, in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Medicine, at the University of British Columbia will be looking to hire a Research Assistant/Technician 2 to join the team.
Organizational StatusWorking with senior research associates, the Research Assistant will report directly to the Principal Investigator, Dr. Pieter Cullis.
Work Performed
- Assisting with formulation of lipid nanoparticles and optimization of lipid nanoparticles for in vitro and in vivo systems.
- Assisting with Physicochemical characterization of lipid nanoparticles LNPs using biophysical and analytical techniques.
- Assisting with In vitro and in vivo testing of lipid nanoparticles.
- Supporting senior researchers in preparation of manuscripts for publication and grant proposals.
- Attending meetings and seminars.
- Carries out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.
Failure to maintain a high standard of work with consistent communication between team members and the supervisors will result in delays and quality of research output, which may impact the working conditions, reputation, and funding for the research group and UBC.
Works under direct supervision in accordance with detailed oral or written instructions; routine duties are carried out under general supervision.
None but may explain work sequences to others.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation, some additional training in a related field and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one's own
- Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
- B.Sc. in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Biophysics, or related.
- Experience with lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations would be considered a major asset.
- Effective writing and presentation skills are required.
- Ability to work independently and with other lab personnel.
