Commercial Internships/Co-op Role


The Indigenous Financial Services Analyst supports the Indigenous Financial Services team and helps create sustainable financial relationships based on trust and respect to help achieve prosperity and honor our commitment to future generations.

This will include coordinating efforts with internal partners and directly reaching out to clients to address various activities such as the resolution of escalated client challenges, collection/processing of financial reporting, the satisfaction of funding requirements, and onboarding needs.

The Commercial Distribution Banking Analyst contributes to the overall success of commercial banking in Canada, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives while also ensuring all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

The team understands the unique needs of Indigenous communities, businesses, and individuals and is committed to building and nurturing connections to deliver the right products and services to help create prosperity for future generations.


Through this Internship/Co-op you will be exposed to:

  • Financial literacy training and credit-building education
  • Indigenous governments
  • Equipment and infrastructure financing
  • Electronic cash management services
  • Investment specialists with expertise in managing trusts
  • Economic development corporations & Indigenous businesses
  • Onreserve development financing

Through this Internship/Co-op you will:

  • Support the Senior Manager in growing and enabling the profitability of the Indigenous market segment in the Retail, Commercial Business Banking, and Wealth divisions.
  • Identify business development opportunities and gather market intelligence and information on prospecting opportunities.
  • Support data and analytics efforts in measuring volume, client, and revenue growth for Indigenous Financial Services.
  • Support the Senior Manager in addressing communication, corporate affairs, government affairs, and philanthropic needs that arise for Indigenous Financial Services.
  • Help translate the needs of Indigenous clients to commercial and wealth relationship managers.

  • Strong commitment to excellent client service and ability to work with clients to resolve issues in an amicable and prompt manner.
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate and prioritize a number of concurrent requests from different Relationship Managers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to obtain agreements within Commercial Banking and partners.
  • Strong written and verbal skills with a proven ability to engage stakeholders and clients.
  • Strong commitment to accuracy, customer focus, and results focus.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Working knowledge of financial statements and credit analysis.
  • Working knowledge of credit structures and applicable risk management.
  • Ability to extract insight from external data and put together presentation materials.
  • Natural curiosity and passion for satisfying customer needs.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a wide variety of tasks.

  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, or Accountingrelated disciplines is preferred but not required.
  • MBA, JD, and other graduate degree applicants are welcome.
