To support us on our journey, Sinai Health System is looking for a Mental Health Clinician to support The Cyril and Dorothy, Jill and Joel Reitman Centre for Alzheimer's Support and Training in the Department of Psychiatry at our Mount Sinai Hospital Campus.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess, coordinate and provide clinical care for care partners of individuals living with dementia and other mental disorders that facilitates and supports recovery for those experiencing a broad range of mental health challenges
  • Provide both individual and group treatments in various modalities
  • Provide patient and family centered psychiatric care, including safety assessments and crisis interventions, focused therapeutic interventions, and family focused interventions with emphasis on recovery, education, and supporting quality of life
  • Assist with resource navigation and linkage with community mental health services to support transition and ongoing care
  • Ongoing clinical documentation
  • Complete behavioural observations and mental status assessments that help formulate and develop care plans and psychosocial interventions
  • Promote and support a traumainformed, equity centered patient care approach
  • Contribute to program development, provide education and support to learners from all disciplines
  • Performs other duties consistent with job classification, as required


  • Job Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Master's degree in a healthrelated discipline, including Social Work, Occupational Therapy or related clinical discipline, or a Bachelors of Nursing
  • Registration and current membership in good standing with a relevant regulatory college
  • Minimum 3 years relevant clinical work experience in a mental health setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric conditions and clinical competence in providing mental health assessments and clinical triage
  • Experience with evidencebased therapy interventions, crisis intervention skills, and family interventions for treatment of care partners and family members of people with cognitive disorders
  • Experience and demonstrated skills in individual and group interventions for adults
  • Knowledge of the management of behavioural disturbances in dementia
  • Knowledge of system resources and system navigation interventions across the health and social services spectrum for older adults
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Mental Health Act, the Substitute Decisions Act, the Health Care Consent Act and PHIPA requirements
  • Excellent organizational, communication, time management and interpersonal skills, along with ability to work effectively as a team member in a dynamic, interprofessional environment
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
  • Experience with evidencebased interventions (CBT, DBT, IPT, MI, Mindfulness, etc.) an asset
  • Experience working in simulation based and adult education in health care is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate collaboratively and effectively in a complex environment, with both internal and external stakeholders and partners
  • Welldeveloped analytical, problemsolving and organizational skills.
