We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Plant Science Associate.

Part of the plant science department, the Plant Science Associate will be responsible for executing all aspects relating to plant science, breeding and phenotyping production; including but not limited to daily crop maintenance, from sowing to harvesting and all data collection. You will conduct hand crosses, HPLC sampling, PPFD and stomatal conductance readings along with the plant science research assistant or designate.

The ideal candidate are self-starters who take initiative, display problem-solving and decision-making abilities, have excellent organizational skills and can maintain a positive, professional attitude in a fast-paced and changing work environment.

Responsibilities:

• BSC in agronomy, biology or related scientific field or equivalent experience;
• Experience working in a production setting;
• Experience with data collection;
• Attention to detail and willingness to learn;
• Excellent understanding of plant physiology and plant biology;
• Ability to hold and maintain Security Clearance as per ACMPR;
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral in English;
• Proficiency in using MS Office applications;
• Ability to handle projects with multiple work streams both independently and within a team;
• Clear accountability, proactive behaviour and strong attention to detail;
• Must be able to work in adverse conditions. i.e. height, heat, high intensity lighting;
• Strong team player;

Qualifications:

• Experience in experimental design would be an asset;
• Ability to meet physical demands including reaching, bending, walking, standing and performing repetitive work';
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
