Air Canada, recognized as one of Canada's top diversity employers and one of Montreal's top employers, is seeking a Strategic Procurement Manager - Sustainable Procurement who will be based at our Montreal Headquarters.


Sustainable Procurement is the integration of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria and CSR principles into traditional procurement processes and decisions.

This role will report into the Manager, Sustainable Procurement in the Centre of Excellence (COE) group within the Strategic Procurement (SP) organization.


Responsibilities


The Strategic Procurement Manager - Sustainable Procurement, will primarily be responsible for supplier risk management which will include supporting the redesign and automation of a corporate supplier legal and reputational risk management program, financial and operational risk, and the associated on-going management of the process.

In greater detail, key areas of responsibility include the following:

  • Lead and support the Supplier Risk Management Program
  • Advance and mature the Legal and Reputational Risk Management Process including process automation, dashboards and KPIs for ongoing monitoring of highrisk profiles
  • Define, develop, and execute the risk management lifecycle process as it pertains to legal, reputational, financial, and operational risk
  • Benchmark legal and reputational risk management strategy, supplier segmentation, ESG frameworks, and conduct a business operation assessment to identify areas of improvement and stay up to date with industry trends
  • Perform due diligence assessments on suppliers prior to entering into a contract and communicate information with stakeholders in a collaborative manner
  • Refine process to provide ongoing monitoring of contracted suppliers and provide status and update reports
  • Assist in determination of supplier compliance to Air Canada's internal policies and code of conduct reviews
  • Develop supplier risk related training deliverables and execute the training to the department
  • Create ongoing awareness about the program to internal stakeholders
  • Assist in the implementation of a supplier risk management policy, determine and measure data points for collection, and establish controls for risk mitigation
  • Supporting the development and implementation of the Sustainable Procurement Roadmap
  • Support initiatives that affect various phases of the procurement process
  • Lead initiatives that affect legal and reputational risk management including ESG ratings for suppliers
  • Identifying and assessing industry risk incidents related to ESG issues
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a sustainable procurement supplier policy and determine and measure data points for collection
  • Collaborate with the sustainable procurement working groups
  • Contribute to and lead continuous improvement projects and initiatives within the Centre of Excellence team
  • Work collaboratively with members of COE and participate in various initiatives
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of reputational and financial risks and regulatory requirements related to suppliers
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and regulatory trends
  • Knowledge of and passion for ESG topics, policy development and program management
  • Previous experience in procurement is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Rigorous attention to details and accuracy
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, time management skills
  • Analytical assessment skills and strategic thinking
  • Good conflict management, negotiation and influencing skills
