About the Opportunity
Our client is a fast-growing SaaS organization that helps content owners and rights holders bring structure and clarity to complex rights, royalties, and related data. They are looking for a seasoned Senior Billings Manager to take ownership of the billing and accounts receivable function, with a particular focus on process clean-up and optimization. You will be the point person for end-to-end SaaS billing, acting as both a hands-on expert and a strategic problem-solver. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a scaling environment, enjoys untangling legacy billing issues, and wants to build a best-in-class AR function that supports rapid, global growth. You'll work cross-functionally with Finance, Sales, Customer Success, and Operations to ensure billing accuracy, timely collections, and a smooth customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end SaaS billing cycle, including invoice generation, adjustments, credits, and reconciliations.
- Lead a comprehensive "billing and AR clean‑up" initiative to resolve historical issues, discrepancies, and backlogs.
- Standardize and document billing processes, workflows, and controls to support scale and audit readiness.
- Review and validate customer contracts and order forms to ensure accurate billing terms and invoicing.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging, drive collections activities, and proactively reduce DSO.
- Investigate and resolve billing and payment disputes, working closely with Sales, Customer Success, and clients.
- Partner with Finance leadership on month-end close activities related to billing and AR.
- Implement and track key billing and AR KPIs, providing regular reporting and insights to leadership.
- Identify and recommend system and process improvements (e.g., automation, integrations, configuration changes).
- Support ad hoc projects related to pricing changes, new product offerings, or revenue operations initiatives.
What You Bring
- Significant experience in SaaS billing and accounts receivable, ideally in a high-growth software environment.
- Strong background in billing "clean-up" projects, including resolving legacy AR issues and improving data quality.
- Deep understanding of recurring revenue models (subscriptions, usage-based billing, renewals, upgrades/downgrades).
- Proven ability to interpret customer contracts and translate terms into accurate billing practices.
- Solid grasp of AR best practices, including collections strategies and aging management.
- High attention to detail, with the ability to spot inconsistencies and drive root-cause resolution.
- Comfort working with billing and finance systems; able to suggest enhancements and streamline workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to create and interpret billing/AR reports and metrics.
- Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external customers.
- A hands-on, ownership mentality suited to a scaling, fast-paced SaaS organization.
