The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing client-focused, innovative and impactful marketing strategies for the Individual Insurance and Wealth business unit that deliver on business objectives.

We are seeking a highly motivated strategic thinker who is enthusiastic about making a difference to our business using their innovative marketing experience.

You have superior interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, are analytically-minded and detail oriented.

You have a sense of curiosity about clients, their behaviour, articulated and unarticulated needs, as well as about the larger business environment in which we operate.

You contribute to the success of the Individual business unit by using the outcome of your curiosity - insights about our clients, advisors and the marketplace - to collaboratively manage the creation and delivery of measurable, strategic marketing activities in a test-and-learn agile environment.


What will you do?

  • Strong leadership skills and proven experience managing team members
  • Consult and proactively provide input into annual and quarterly marketing objectives and key result targets by providing ideas and marketing solutions that align current marketing approaches with our understanding of client and advisor needs and behaviour.
  • Build and maintain relationships within Marketing and with key business partners to contribute to identifying client and business problems and root causes that marketing strategies can measurably address.
  • Proactively identify ways for the business to gain competitive advantage through marketing opportunities including digital solutions, paid and earned media.
  • Develop relevant marketing documentation (strategy, briefs, results including metrics and success measures)
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders to produce bestinclass effective marketing outputs.
  • Collaborate with agile marketing teams on creative themes, communication strategies and program plans to deploy via electronic, web, print or video media.
  • Report on program or campaign successes with relevant data, insights and benchmarks.
  • Hold stakeholders (Marketing team and business partners) accountable to the agreed upon marketing plan including adherence to key messages and positioning and Sun Life brand standards.
  • Think strategically, but be willing and able to roll up your sleeves to help implement integrated marketing programs from conception through to completion.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Minimum of seven years progressive marketing experience with proven abilities in digital marketing
  • University or college degree in Marketing, Business or Communications
  • Strong partnering and influencing approach to build and maintain relationships within Marketing and with key business partners
  • Experience developing effective marketing strategies that drive measurable results through creative marketing ideas and solutions based on client and advisor insight
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdependent environment
  • Experience working in agile environment
  • Experience with Lean continuous improvement discipline
  • Knowledge of financial services industry, clients, products, services, distribution channels
