We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated
Supervisor, Children & Family Services who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness and empowerment; to our clients, families and each other.


The
Supervisor, Children & Family Services is in collaboration with other Supervisors, and they provide oversight, coordination and support to Early Years Programs with a specialization in program licensing.

This position will be mainly overseeing a licensed full day child care program.

This position is a
unionized,
permanent, full-time position. The rate of pay is $25.88 per hour. Schedule to be determined but between the hours of 6am-7pm

**Key Responsibilities: - Develop, plan, implement and provide appropriate information including services and programs for children and adults in Early Years programs,

  • Oversee the daily operation of the various Early Years and Wesley HUB sites and programs
  • Supervise and mentor staff
  • Act as the CCEYA licensed specialist, providing oversite, support and mentorship to the audit and licensing process
  • Attend all Ministry of Ed licensing inspections
  • Act as the CWELCC specialist in relation to licensing compliance
  • Work with the Manager, Early Years to identify compliance trends and areas of improvement
  • Ensuring that program statistics stay within annual targets.
  • Welcome, support and interact with program participants, remembering to be sensitive to all families including those culturally diverse, LGBTQ, young parents, etc.
  • Ensure the Wesley Early Years programs are in compliance with all legal and licensing requirements including reporting serious occurrences through the proper reporting procedure.
  • Ensure a high level of community participation and service delivery in the programs including promotion of the programs in the community. This includes establishing and maintaining a good rapport with neighbourhood schools and community partners.
  • Ensure that staff are providing quality, playbased learning and supervising parents/caregivers and children attending the Early Years programs at all times.
  • Organize, participate and contribute to team meetings and staff development opportunities
  • Follow the policies and procedures of the programs, HWDSB, City of Hamilton and Wesley.
  • Be responsible for submission of time sheets and other reports as required.
  • Identify training needs of staff and orient staff, student placements.
  • Ensuring appropriate staffing levels at all times.
  • Identify and communicate through appropriate channels any trends, activities, concerns, stories, changes and incidents in the program.
  • Maintain petty cash and monitor program spending to remain within budget in conjunction with co supervisor and management.
  • Assist in hiring procedures for program staff.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings related to Early Learning and Care programs as requested by the Manager, Early Years.
  • Complete annual staff performance management evaluations.
  • Gather program statistics on weekly, monthly and yearly basis and participate in ongoing quality assurance monitoring.
  • Ensure open communications with parents/caregivers and other participants.
  • Be knowledgeable about content of program and working directly with staff, children and families that access it.
  • Demonstrate an indepth knowledge of the Ministry of Education's "How Does Learning Happen?" pedagogy for Early Years and ensure this is carried out at all sites.
  • On an annual basis, review Centers' operational guidelines, policies and procedures and other legislation required as it relates to the delivery of services.
  • Frequent movement between multiple locations and programs is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will bring:


  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Minimum 5 years of current supervisory experience in working in a licensed full day child care (infants, toddler and preschool) setting and with community partners.
  • Current supervisory experience with a full day child care centre that is a member of the Canada Wide, Early Learning and Child Care program.
  • Experience with staff oversight preferably in a unionized environment
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation including the Child Care and Early Years Act, 201
