WTW's Retirement team combines expertise in pension, actuarial and compliance advisory services, supporting organizations around the world in the design, financing, administration, governance and communications of all types of pension plans.

We work with clients to help them determine the approach best suited to their objectives, whether the pension plan they offer is a defined benefit plan or a defined contribution plan.

Our pension compliance team is part of the Retirement team. We provide compliance consulting services for a wide and diverse range of pension plans.

We support our clients in the day-to-day management of their pension plans, including plan documents, interpretation of plan provisions and pension legislation, governance, and general risk mitigation measures.

In addition, we guide our clients through complex plan changes such as legislative reforms, corporate restructurings, plan mergers, union negotiations and annuity purchases.

In this role, we help clients fulfill their fiduciary duties and achieve operational efficiency in an increasingly complex environment.


The position


As an Analyst, you will gain direct exposure to real client assignments which, will draw on your imagination and creativity as well as your ability to analyze information, solve problems, develop solutions, and share your brilliant results.

In this role, you'll experience a balance of expanding your technical and client knowledge and developing your problem solving and communications skills, while benefiting from working in a close-knit and supportive team environment.

Your role will be to actively assist and support the compliance team in planning, executing, and delivering on a wide range of mandates such as:

  • Analyze and respond to internal and external client inquiries related to compliance or governance
  • Review and interpret pension plan documents, as well as applicable provincial and federal pension and tax legislation.
  • Prepare draft amendments to pension plan documents, including relevant resolutions from boards of directors and pension committees.
  • Prepare drafts of legislative updates and fiduciary responsibility training and participate in their presentation to clients.
  • Manage many simultaneous deliverables for multiple clients.
  • Contribute to the development and codification of our compliance intellectual capital.
  • Work under the supervision of and in close collaboration with senior team members.
  • Work collaboratively with a wide variety of colleagues at all levels of the regional sector.

Requirements:


Legal field:

Bachelor of Law obtained in Canada or another country, but preferably in a country with a common law or civil law regime, is an advantage.


Compliance Sector:
Pension plan experience, primarily in compliance and plan administration.

  • Work experience demonstrating strong technical and customer service skills
  • Sense of organization and meticulousness
  • Strong interest in solving problems and sharing solutions to exceed customer standards
  • Sense of initiative and autonomy coupled with an ability to work in a team in a context of close collaboration
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and proven ability to interact with colleagues at all levels
  • Working knowledge of pension legislation and other relevant laws and regulations affecting pension plans, an asset
  • Ability to express oneself in French (a requirement for the position in the Montréal office) and fluency in English is an asset
