The Opportunity
FST Changing Lives Family Violence, Counselling Program provides trauma informed and trauma
specific counselling services along with group-based supports to a diverse range of people
facing a variety of issues. The counsellor will be part of an outstanding team using a range of
therapeutic modalities, participating in clinical consultations and a shared commitment to
professional development.
This position is mainly based at LAMP, a Community Health Centre, in which FST has a satellite
office. Services are offered to clients across Toronto, South Etobicoke and to patients of LAMP.

Counselling expertise:
- Provide culturally competent, trauma informed and evidencebased counselling for individuals
- and couples.
- Provide trauma therapy for survivors of sexual abuse.
- Experience with short term and medium term therapy models.
- Provide services to clients from diverse ethnocultural communities, diverse sexual orientation
- Experience and/or knowledge of working with people facing an array of challenges, including
disabilities.
- Provide professional clinical assessments, case notes and reports in a timely manner using an

- M.S.W., M.A. or M.Ed., or B.S.W combined with relevant experience. Foreign credentials are

Applicants must be registered and in good standing with the College of Social Workers and
Social Service Workers or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
- Demonstrated clinical training, experience, and competence in integrating at least two clinical
Psychotherapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy).
- Demonstrated commitment to, and understanding of the principles of social justice, cultural
- Current knowledge of best practices in mental health (e.g., crisis deescalation, suicide
