As the Licensed Authorizations Officer, you will work in a variety of settings and provide professional advice and may make decisions regarding the allocation of resources and adjudication of resource authorizations for the Natural Resource Sector.

Job Requirements:


  • Degree or diploma in the natural resource field or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association.
  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Forest Technologist with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP).

Note:immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction within six months of employment. Confirmation of registration/ eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.

  • At least 2 years of recent experience (within the last 5 years) related to natural resource management. Applicable natural resource sectors include (but may not be limited to): forest fuel management, ecosystem restoration, forest health, silviculture, wildfire rehabilitation, prescribed burning.

Preference may be given to those with one or more of the following:

  • Experience working in natural resource management.
  • Experience in supervising, leading, coaching and mentoring staff.
  • Experience in consulting, negotiating and resolving conflicts with partners in natural resource management.
  • Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.

Provisos & Willingness Statements:


  • May be required to operate a variety of equipment.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence, or equivalent.
  • Meet safety standards of WorkSafe BC.
  • Conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Confirmation of the following certification/membership is required at the time of a job offer following this competition: Registered Forest Technician (RFT) with the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals.

Lesser qualified applicants may be considered, but at a lower classification level.
