What You'll Do
-
Responsible for the processing of bi-weekly payroll and related remittances including G/L reconciliations, reports and journal entries for both union and non-union sawmills.

  • Execute Kronos time and attendance processing and interface with ADP payroll
  • Perform monthend close responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner, which include payroll related journal entries, accruals, and reconciliation
  • Produce various payroll related reports including G/L, DOL, workers compensation and annual compliance filings
  • Act as the point of contact for Human Resources regarding payroll information related to Canadian hourly employees
  • Responsible for creating ad hoc payroll and other reports as required
  • Work with the payroll team on the Canadian hourly upgrade of ADP Workforce Now & Kronos
  • Audit, enforce and make process improvements as they relate to payroll
  • Assist with reconciliation and preparation of T4s
  • Assist with the preparation and remittance of all hourly statutory withholdings, benefit payments and quarterly WCB premiums
  • Participate in assigned payroll projects and other payroll related tasks
  • Assist with yearend audits including WCB and CRA
  • Help with remittances and coordination of various plans and payments
  • Maintain accurate and complete employee personnel files
  • Ensure compliance with internal control procedures and privacy legislation
  • Act as backup for salaried payroll when needed

What You Offer
-
2-4 years' experience with full cycle payroll

  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now an asset
  • Experience with unionized manufacturing payroll an asset
  • Experience with Kronos time and attendance an asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Experience in basic accounting
  • Able and willing to travel to sawmill operations when required
  • Ability to read and understand labour agreements
  • Ability to organize, multitask and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Strong information gathering and information monitoring skills
  • Honesty, integrity and professionalism
  • Ability to be selfmotivated to work independently in a professional team environment
  • Ability to maintain confidential information using discretion and diplomacy
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees in both unionized and nonunionized environments
  • Ability to resolve payroll discrepancies through the analysis of payroll data
  • Ability to display tact, diplomacy and discretion in handling information of confidential or sensitive nature
